*SPECIAL* Year in Review: Top Ten Pieces in the Way
Pardon the disruption of our usual programming, here's a special Year in Review email.
In the Oregon Way’s first full calendar year, we shared hundreds of pieces from pragmatic Oregonians in every part of the state. These pieces spanned from wonky to works of art. They shared a common tone: deliberative, humble, and hopeful.
Our community of contributors expanded to become more diverse in every way. We welcomed county commissioners. We invited state legislators. We leaned into our network to identify voices that you won’t find in other opinion sections.
Our community of subscribers brought in hundreds of new members with a hunger for a better civic culture in our state. There’s been an uptick in comments on pieces — and most of those comments have mirrored the same tone of the piece in question. And, there’s been a jump in emails to the editor — letting me know how we can continue to improve as we pursue our mission: enhance Oregon’s information ecosystem and civil culture.
Thank you, readers and writers, for making this effort possible. Before I list the top ten posts (as determined by number of views), please look these opportunities for how you can help us in this effort:
Join our editing team: Do you or someone you know want to help our contributors make the strongest arguments possible on the issues of the day? Please reach out to Kevin (kfraz@berkeley.edu). This is our most important need.
Recommend contributors: We’re always looking to expand the diversity and complexity of voices represented in our pieces. If you know of someone who we should reach out to, please let me know.
Gift a subscription: Give the gift of Oregon’s most boring op-ed page.
Here’s to a better Oregon,
Kevin
