“Crater Lake, regarded as the cleanest and clearest large body of water in the world, is facing threats of possible contamination because some lake visitors are using illegal items and defecating along its shores.” — Lee Juillerat, The Bend Bulletin
This quote leaves no doubt that we all need to do a better job of making sure our world-class outdoors remain pristine for future generations to come.
Tourism is essential to Oregon’s economy. And, exploration is a way of life in our state. So what can we do to make our adventures sustainable?
I posed this big question to OSU Cascade’s Todd Montgomery on the Fix It podcast that I host with my friend, Nishant Karandikar. Regrettably, Nishant could not join me and Todd, but the episode nevertheless outlined some important lessons for travelers to and from Oregon.
