Thanks for the comment! I agree there are a lot of impacts beyond carbon and air pollution - you could also add the economic waste of an expensive asset that sits parked 90%+ of the time, obesity induced by driving, neighborhoods divided and destroyed, and more. So yes, electric cars still have a lot of the other downsides that come with cars. There is no 'silver bullet' solution.

Just to say it explicitly - my point is that it's just as incumbent on those who are focused on other pieces of the transportation reform puzzle to acknowledge their limitations and support, at some level, ALL the changes needed in transportation reform. So, for example, walking and cycling advocates need to acknowledge that those modes don't work for a lot of trips, and that making sure cars are electric is another important and complementary piece of the puzzle. I love bikes, and am a year round bike commuter, but they're no silver bullet either.
